Details

Mount Fairview, located adjacent to Lake Louise, is a challenging hike that offers spectacular views of surrounding mountains such as Temple, Victoria, Aberdeen and St. Piran. The trail starts on the south shore of the lake and climbs through subalpine forest to reach Saddleback Pass, an open meadow that is located between Fairview and Saddle mountains. From there, the trail turns north and climbs steeply up towards the summit of Fairview. At higher elevations, the trail is less well defined, and is largely composed of loose rock and scree. This hike/easy scramble has substantial elevation gain (1011 m or 3,316 ft.), and is suitable for intermediate to advanced hikers who are comfortable with gaining significant elevation and ascending rocky terrain.
