Barrier Lake to Prairie View

Barrier Lake
Barrier Lake Lake is a fabulous hike with variety of terrain and is rated Moderate. The trail will follow the shore of the lake and then up the trail which eventually leads to Prairie View providing a view of the lake and surrounding mountains. It looks like favorable conditions for the week coming up.
Expect these conditions will be the same next week.

Trailhead meet-up time: Thursday, November 12, 2026 at 9:00 AM
Location: Barrier Lake Parking Lot (Look for light grey NIssan)
NOTE: Difficulty Moderate- This is a hike at 11.3 kms, in length with elevation of is 509m.

RECOMMENDED GEAR & SUPPLIES
Walking/hiking poles - very useful for hiking hills
Crampons/Spikes
Good hiking shoes recommended
Appropriate clothing / layers - Carry layers so you can remove and add
layers as needed. Breathable clothing is recommended that keeps
your body warm and keeps moisture away from your skin.
Safety
Personal first aid kit suggested, (I am Certified in CPR and Wilderness Safety) Carry a first aid kit in the case of emergency.

Definitely bring snacks/lunch and water. We will stop at the top to enjoy a break and the view.
