NOTE: The trails we will be on are single track dirt trails, which can make large groups difficult. Therefore, I've placed a lower cap on this hike compared to others. If full, please join the waitlist, and I'll do my best to accommodate everyone.

Overview: The Palos Verdes peninsula comprises the south-western corner of Los Angeles County. Covering approximately 37 mi^2 and rising to almost 1500' above sea level, the peninsula is home to remnant coastal sage scrub ecosystems. This hike will explore the Forrestal Nature Preserve, part of the 5 mi^2 of designated open space on the peninsula.

Here are a few of the topics we'll be learning about:

- Natural history of the peninsula
- Plants of the coastal sage scrub ecosystem
- Animals of the coastal sage scrub ecosystem
- Geology of the Palos Verdes peninsula, including some of the most unstable land in the world
- Peninsula's relationship to the Channel Islands
- Off shore giant kelp forests

I've capped attendance for this event, so, if full, please join the waitlist and I'll try to accommodate as the event gets closer.
