Let's climb at Point Dume! Non-singles please wear something red. Park in the pay lot or park for free up above on Grasswood Ave (3/4 mile hike). Point Dume is all top roping 5.6 - 5.11 and a little bouldering. There are sport bolts but they're not in good enough shape to reliably hold a fall. Bring your ropes and long anchors if you have them.

You'll want to bring protection from the elements as well as water and snacks. Here's the weather forecast. Must be 18+. No pets.

--- BEGINNERS ---

Must already be trained to belay. You'll need climbing shoes. These can be purchased at stores like REI and Nomad Ventures. You'll also need a harness, belay device, and locking carabiner. These may be able to be borrowed at the meetup.

--MEETUP LEADERS NEEDED--

We need more climbers to lead meetups! Must be safe and like people. The idea is you pick a day/time and a crag or gym and then invite people to meet you climb with you. You're not guiding anyone. Attendees must be self-sufficient and be responsible for their own safety. Can restrict attendance based on things like gear, experience, skills (e.g. must be able to lead 5.9, must have a rope, must bring a bouldering pad, ect), and women-only meetups are great! Magnificent Monday Meetup @ Cliffs of Id

Meet us in the top rope area by the benches at 7:00 pm and we'll climb together! We'll give each other belays, comradery, and encouragement. Join us! Must pass the top rope test first before belaying on top rope. Must pass the lead test with your own rope before leading or lead belaying.

Climbing is a personal journey between you and the wall. Your climbing skills will not be judged. You will not be holding back your belay partner no matter your level of experience. This is a friendly, supportive event that is welcoming to climbers of all skill and experience levels. We'll give each other belays, comradery, and encouragement. Join us! Feel free to trickle in late or leave early if needed.

You must be able to pass the gym’s top rope belay or lead test (free)/have a Touchstone belay card before belaying on top rope or lead climbing, respectively.

What does Figure 8 mean?
“Figure 8” refers to the double figure 8 knot that is universally beloved and used by climbers because of its simplicity and inability to fail.

PARKING
Limited free parking is available in front of the gym in its own lot but fills up quickly. A bigger lot (also free) is directly across the street on Fairfax, and there is metered and free street parking around the block.

Please be aware if tandem parking, you will have to sign a log and be ready to move your car on notice.

I recommend entering the gym lot from Fairfax, if there’s no parking go through it and turn right on Hines to look for street parking.

Continue on and turn right on Washington. Still no luck? Go through the intersection and turn right onto Genesse to access the big lot, then walk to cross the street to the gym at Adams.

Once you get checked in turn left and go down the stairs. Look for the Meetup Figure 8 Fridays group flag!
