Let's get some fun TRs in with new friends! Join SoCal Climbing's Singles subgroup if you haven't already. We'll get to know each other on the hike in, climb, and then may get some nachos at Sharky's after. Attendees who aren't single - please wear something red. Here's the weather forecast. You'll want to bring protection from the elements as well as water and snacks. Must be 18+.

Meeting location: Meet at the large dirt pullout (2297 Co Hwy N1, Calabasas, CA 91302) just north of the intersection of Mulholland Highway & Las Virgenes Road, not the parking lot.

--- BEGINNERS ---

You must be trained to belay prior to the meetup. If you can belay, then you'll also need shoes and a harness. You might be able to borrow a harness at the meetup. You'll most likely need to buy shoes.

--- CLIMBING ---

Planet of the Apes is a top rope wall with routes ranging from 5.5 to 5.14a. Bring your ropes and anchor material for long extensions if you have them.

--- PARKING & APPROACH ---

If you miss us... park in the parking lot ($) and then follow this map about 1 mile (https://bit.ly/mcsp-to-apes) to meet me at Planet of the Apes. As you're hiking upstream Apes is on the right past the bridge and before the rock pool. Make several stops along the way to turn around and memorize how to hike out so you won't get lost.

--- MEETUP LEADERS NEEDED ---

We need more climbers to lead meetups! Must be safe and like people. The idea is you pick a day/time and a crag or gym and then invite people to meet you climb with you. You're not guiding anyone. Attendees must be self-sufficient and be responsible for their own safety. Can restrict attendance based on things like gear, experience, skills (e.g. must be able to lead 5.9, must have a rope, must bring a bouldering pad, ect). Message me to learn more.
