Holcomb Valley Pinnacles is located in the city of Big Bear, Ca. There are hundreds of routes to climb here and lots of beautiful scenery at the top! We'll be camping near the climbing area, not in the established campground. Bring everything you'll need including food (There will be places to get food if you want to drive out to Big Bear), water, tent, sleeping bag, pad, etc., and camp chairs if you have them. Food, water (LOTS), protection from the elements (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, jacket)

ADVENTURE PASS: Adventure http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/4/0/8/event_58781992.jpegpasses are required to park. These cost $5/day or $30/year. You can purchase them at the Discovery Center which is 2.5 miles from Fawnskin (see directions below). They can also be purchased online, or in a local store (e.g. Big 5).

CLIMBING: You must have experience belaying or come with someone who does if you are a beginner. If you are climbing you will need a HELMET, harness,climbing shoes, chalk bag, belay device + locking carbiner. Shoes can be rented at Sport Chalet (see the link above). I have a few extra harness's and some of the other climbers, that are going, do as well. - Quickdraws & ropes if you have them.

Take CA-210 East,

exit 81 to merge onto CA-330 N/City Creek Rd toward Mountain Resorts, follow CA-330 N 15.5 mi

Continue onto Hilltop Blvd 0.2 mi

CA-18 N 12.4 mi ...

CA-38 W/N Shore Dr. 3.7 mi ...

Turn right to stay on CA-38 W/N Shore Dr. Drive thru the town of Fawnskin.

Directions To Holcomb Pinnacles:

*Proceed on Highway 38 (N. Shore Dr.), at exactly 2.5 miles from Fawnskin is the "Discovery center". It is here that you can purchase an Adventure Pass (see above).

*Continue on Hwy. 38.

*Turn left on Van Dusen Canyon Road (3N09) and travel 3.9 miles until it ends. This road is rough but fine for regular cars. -

*Turn left on Holcomb Valley Road (3N16),

*Pass Holcomb Valley Campground on right, and travel .5 miles. -

*Turn right on 3N07 and travel .5 miles.

*You'll pass Wilbur's grave and a tall gated entrance on your left. -

*Turn right at the fork in the road and travel about 1.25 miles.

We will be camping 1/4 mile before the southern parking lot at the end of this dirt road. Look for my Silver Toyota Highlander and the neon marking tape.
