Python Development with Docker and Jupyter by Mike Frantz, GoGuardian Data Scientist
Abstract:
One common challenge facing teams of python developers is being able to mirror one another's dev environment. At GoGuardian, we solve this problem with Docker. This allows any shared development environments to be version-controlled, consistent between devices, and shareable among team members. In this presentation, we will go over the core components of setting up and managing a dev environment with Docker and Jupyter.

Model Deployment with Python, AWS and Terraform by Greg Johnson, GoGuardian Data Scientist
Abstract:
Python has done an excellent job of democratizing model development for the masses. Building a neural network can be as easy as writing a couple of lines of Python. However, deploying that neural network to serve up predictions in real time has not been as straight-forward. Fortunately, the diversity and number of deployment tools have exploded in the recent past, simplifying the process of turning a machine learning model into a prediction service. In this talk, we will explore how web frameworks, AWS, and the Infrastructure as Code movement can ease many of the pain points of model deployment for data science teams. Specifically, we will walk through: creating a model in Python; wrapping the model in an API to create a prediction service; and using Terraform to create the infrastructure to host the prediction service.
