What we’re about
Welcome to our Social Impact Book Club in Perth Western Australia! We have such a thriving social impact community here in Perth, and we're hoping to build on that to have some fun and discuss interesting, thought-provoking texts on any topic related to social impact.
Whether you're passionate about making a difference or simply curious about the field, our book club aims to offer a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share insights, and foster meaningful conversations.
Join us as we delve into inspiring texts and collectively strive to understand and contribute to positive social change.
This book club is organised by the Centre for Social Impact Alumni committee but studying social impact is absolutely not a prerequisite for joining.

Social Impact Book Club - January 2026 meeting
Lake Monger Recreation Club, 144 Gregory Street, Wembley, Perth, AUWelcome to our first meetup for 2026, and a new year of our Social Impact Book Club!
This time we’re diving into The Kindness Revolution: How we can restore hope, rebuild trust and inspire optimism by renowned Australian social psychologist Hugh Mackay.
We’ve intentionally chosen an Australian author to bring a more local (and hopeful) perspective to our reading. So far, our book club has explored a diverse range of international voices, and now we’re excited to turn our attention closer to home. I’m really looking forward to unpacking how Hugh Mackay frames kindness as a powerful force for reshaping communities and restoring hope in uncertain times.
In keeping with the community theme for our venue this time, I've chosen my family's local bowlo - which acts as a community hub of sorts. It'll be a casual spot, with live music starting later in the day (and they'll even chuck in some free bowls for those interested!) We'll be able to get some simple food - toasties and coffee or drinks. We'll have a quiet spot out of the way so we can hear each other chat and enjoy the beautiful outlook over Galup, a site of huge significance to the local Noongar people.
When: Sunday, January 11th 2026
Where: Lake Monger Recreation Club
Time: 12:30pmWhether you're a new face to this book club, or a returning member, we look forward to you joining us for a relaxed chat about how kindness can be a catalyst for impact,
