Last week we celebrated like American Pharaohs (check the deets on our May 3rd event). And while the ancient Egyptians definitely knew how to have a good time ,,,,,no one in the ancient world could quite throw a party like the Romans. So for this week I figured we'd go on a little holiday ,,,, a Roman holiday to be exact ,,,,,where on both Wednesday and Saturday we'll CELEBRATE LIKE CAESARS.

First up ,,,,,this Wednesday we'll begin our festivities AT CRUST PIZZA COMPANY ,,,where our foodie faithful can indulge their palates in a variety of pizzas, pastas, calazones, zucchinis ,,,you get the idea ,,,,as well as a variety of both salads and sweets. All cheese is shredded daily and the dough is made fresh in house multiple times throughout the day. But it wouldn't be a party without the libations. And Crust Pizza definitely delivers here as well - as all wine (both by the bottle and by the glass) is half price on Wednesdays.

So come on out and join us this Wednesday. Just like Alexander** infers in our featured photo ,,,it'll be GREAT !!!! All are welcome. Feel free to bring a friend.

** - Yeah, yeah ,,, I know Alexander is Greek not Roman 🤷‍♂️,,,, but the picture works ,,,,,and we're not going to let the facts get in the way of a good story 🙂🙂.

As our regular readers know, our group basically meets every Wednesday and every Saturday. And as those who attended this week's Wednesday event know, ON THIS PARTICULAR WEEK WE ARE TAKING a little holiday ,,,,A ROMAN HOLIDAY to be exact. This past Wednesday we kicked off our social excursion at Crust Pizza. And this Saturday we'll finish strong as we bring the bacchanal home WITH OUR "WHEN IN ROME" BAR+HOP !!

For this event:

From 8 til 11ish - we'll start off at Wooster's Garden, which we haven't frequented since May of last year. For those not familiar, WOOSTER'S GARDEN BOASTS 49 house/signature cocktails on it's menu. Offerings include such notables as Honey We Canteloupe, Mother In Law, Friend Zone, Muscle Relaxer and ,,,,, my favorite ,,,, THE "WHEN IN ROME" COCKTAIL (the name sake for this weekend's event) ! Then ,,,,,,

From 11ish til ??? - we'll move up the street a bit to check out another Midtown establishment ,,,,TBD by Your's Truly the night of.

So how does the old saying go ? "WHEN IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS DO." WELL TONIGHT THE ROMANS ARE BAR HOPPING THE NIGHT AWAY IN SOUTHWEST MIDTOWN. So feel free to come on out and make a night of it !

As our "regular readers" know ,,,,we tend to travel a lot for our Midweeks (metaphorically speaking),,,, jet-setting from coast to coast on our culinary excursions. So this week, let's stretch our wings and head to the Pacific Rim via one of Houston's more eclectic culinary destinations - LORO Asian Smokehouse. And for those unfamiliar,,,,, when we're thinking LORO, we're thinking:

*FOOD - Oh let's say ,,,,,,,FAR EAST MEETS DOWN SOUTH (Yeah,,,,an Asian Smokehouse).

LORO Asian was founded in 2018 by the owners of Franklin Barbecue and Uchi, to provide the ultimate fusion experience by merging their loves of both Asian and Texas cuisine. For this Saturday night's event ,,,let's channel our inner "social climber" and shinny up to a perennial favorite ,,,,,,,,,,the 🌴 TREEHOUSE BAR 🌴 !!!

Patterson Park Patio Bar, located off White Oak Bayou Trail, has been billed as the "Treehouse on the Trail" in the press (and the "Treehouse Bar" by us 🙂🙂) on account of it's spacious wooden upstairs patio/deck which provides a great view of the lush greenery around White Oak Bayou. Along with the view, the 9,000 square venue also includes arcade and board games and a wide variety of food and drink offerings.

So whether you’re brand new, or if you’ve been before, feel free to come on by Saturday night ! It will be a great way to both catch up friends as well as meet somebody new !
