Social Threads is a grassroots project in Melbourne helping people make friends, feel connected, and build meaningful connections.
We run fun social gatherings that develop skills to spark conversation, deepen emotional intelligence, and create genuine human connection. Everyone’s perspective matters - there’s no right or wrong, just honest shared ideas.
Whether you’re a student, professional, senior, or new arrival, everyone is welcome. Come as you are – you’ll be warmly welcomed.
Many people have left with new friends, simple tips to connect with others, and ideas to feel more at home in their community.

The Offline Social
Location not specified yetJoin us for an afternoon designed to help people slow down, disconnect from screens, and genuinely connect with others in a relaxed and welcoming space.
After a successful community dinner with 50+ attendees, we’re bringing people together again. This time, for The Offline Social run by 100 Coffee Movement x Social Threads - a simple idea built around board games, conversation, and meaningful human connection.
We’ve secured a beautiful heritage church space in South Melbourne just for this event. It’s a calm, unique venue that creates the perfect atmosphere to step away from everyday noise and be present with others.
Throughout the afternoon, we’ll be playing old-school board games and running light, social connection activities designed to help friendships form naturally. There’s no pressure to perform or network - just easy conversation, shared laughs, and organic connection.
Whether you come alone (most people do) or bring a friend, you’ll be welcomed into a friendly, inclusive environment.
