What weβre about
Hello and welcome to Socially Anxious to Socially Awesome!
This is a group for those who would like to take action against social anxiety and shyness by gradually easing yourself out of your comfort zone.
I run weekly online get-togethers where we can practise all sorts of social activities to work towards putting social anxiety in its place for good.
As a fellow social anxiety sufferer, I've found groups like this to be extremely helpful towards my recovery.
I believe that with enough practice social anxiety can become a thing of the past and no longer rule your life.
If you'd like to get some practical tips on how to handle anxiety around social situations then check out my YouTube channel:

- It's still in the early stages so don't expect miracles just yet :)
************
Please note: This isn't a social anxiety support or therapy group where we come to talk about our problems. There are other excellent groups out there already for that. The aim of each session is to give you the opportunity to develop your confidence through practise.

INTRODUCTION
Whether you struggle with public speaking, meeting new people, or simply want to enhance your social confidence, this online practice group offers a safe space to grow and learn.I believe that regular practice is extremely important in learning to become more confident. The aim is that after every session you come away feeling like you've made some real progress towards putting social anxiety in its place for good!
From my own experience, I've found that online groups can be very effective at helping to bridge the gap between spending evenings alone at home and being bold enough to explore and meet new people in the real world. They have helped me a great deal to step out of and expand my comfort zone. I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
This group will focus on solutions and putting them into practice.
HOW EACH SESSION WILL WORK
The general layout for each session will be a brief round of introductions/proactivity reports to get everyone involved, followed by a variety of behavioural activities aimed to gently nudge people out of their comfort zones. This will usually involve breakout rooms, some minor improv activities and each session will finish with some form of public speaking. There is no obligation to participate in any activity you do not feel comfortable enough to do right now. There is no pressure whatsoever! We are all at different stages on our journeys. Take things at your own pace.
ADDITIONAL INFO
Sessions will be conducted on Google Meets (link will be available after you RSVP)Everybody must have their camera on. This will ensure you and everyone else get the maximum benefit from each session.
I have set a limit on the number of people that can join each session to keep numbers low so as not to overwhelm people (this is a social anxiety group after all!).
This also means people get multiple opportunities to speak each session. Please change your RSVP status if you are no longer able to attend, to allow the members on the waiting list to join the event.
Not turning up or cancelling less than an hour before the event might result in you being disallowed from future sessions.****************
