Regents Park Rounders with Social Distance

The Regent's Park

Come join us in the park for a game of rounders or to hang out and make new friends. Not played rounders before? It's a traditional English sport for everyone, even the unsporty. Rounders is a bat and ball game played by two teams. Your team will be either fielding or batting before swapping after the innings. When batting, the aim is to hit the ball, then try and run around the four posts. Your team gets a rounder if you make it round the four posts without stopping or getting out. You are out if when you hit the ball someone catches the ball before it reaches the ground or someone stumps a post before you get there. The ball we use is very soft. The rules will be explained at the beginning of each meetup. We play a slightly modified version of the official rules in that if you are out, it's not game over for you. This will give everyone multiple opportunities to bat. It's very simple to pick up. We are very beginner friendly and the focus is on having fun rather than being competitive. We attract attendees of all ages and genders. You are welcome to come and watch only. We usually have a few people who do so while having a picnic and enjoying the park. Here's a rounders video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApZK7eH40fs Meet at 2pm in Regents Park. Here is the map of where we will be playing in the park (Cumberland Green): https://www.notion.so/hyau/Rounders-at-Regents-Park-8bc419b72dde4aacaec3870d291636be We will turn away people when we are over the 30 people limit set by the government for team sports. We follow the Coronovirus guidelines as suggested by Rounders England and the Football Association. If you are down to attend an event, please read these as there are certain guidelines that apply to all participants: https://www.roundersengland.co.uk/guidance-for-competitive-rounders-to-return-in-england-270720/ The equipment will be sanitised and we will be enforcing social distance. Please make sure that you: - Report to the organiser when you get to the park to get yourself registered for the game and test and trace. Try and arrive on time to help make this go smoothly. - Make sure you bring hand sanitiser for use before and after the game - Social distance at all times - Standing at least one metre apart - Do not hang out in groups of more than six before, during or after the session. - Do not come if you are sick Please feel free to bring food and drinks. The main rounders game will finish at 3:30pm. The group will then decide whether to play more, stay in the park or go to the pub. Our Sunday rounders events are free for everyone. The organisers volunteer their time and fund for the equipment, public liability insurance, marketing and meetup costs to make this happen. We would like our events to raise awareness and money for worthwhile charities. If you appreciate our events, please consider making a donation on our fundraising page. Your donation will be split between 5 charities equally: ActionAid Save the Children Sightsavers Friends of the Earth The Royal Parks (the charity that looks after Regents Park) To donate and for more info, please visit: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Socialsportsmix

Free Mixed Football @ Regents Park - (Ladies Signup Page)

A friendly mixed gender football game in Regents Park. We aim to have roughly equal numbers of men and women for every game. Equipment such as balls, goals and bibs will be provided. Absolute beginners are most welcome! On most weeks, we have enough people for a dedicated game for beginners. This is the Ladies Signup Page. We are strict in our aim in getting equal numbers and men and women for each game. We are currently oversubscribed on men's interest in the football. If you are a guy who wants to play, to guarantee a spot for football please bring a woman that would like to play and message the organiser. We encourage couples in particular. How it works: Book early to avoid disappointment. When the attendance list closes, we are unlikely to have any more spaces and not everyone on the waitlist can be guaranteed an opportunity. We meet at the venue to organise teams and for everyone to get to know each other. Here is a map of where we will be: https://www.notion.so/hyau/Rounders-and-Football-at-Regents-Park-8bc419b72dde4aacaec3870d291636be Look for a group playing rounders before. You are also welcome to join us for that. Look out for the separate event page. We will play for 60-90 minutes depending on how we all feel. You can leave early if you need to. If there are no Goalkeepers, players who are willing to go in goal will rotate every 8 mins. We will play rain or shine. Please be there on time and message the organiser if you are late / lost. We recommend you bring shinpads and water. We follow the Coronovirus guidelines as suggested by the Football Association.
