About us
The Software Freedom School exists to teach the world how to use and why to choose free software.
David L. Willson and Heather L. Willson started SFS in 2013 with Linux Camp.
We feed the whole learner, mind (techie classes), body (delicious food), and spirit (libre software).
We try to have at least two 4-hour gentle hands-on intro classes each month, one 4-day immersion camp each year, and a few study groups.
Our ideal participant loves Free Software, comes to learn with us, and stays to teach with us. Newbies, graduates, veterans, career changers, and enthusiasts are all welcome and wanted with us!
We are a community based company in the Denver area. We want to partner with hacker-spaces, maker-spaces, LUG's, businesses of all sizes, entrepreneurs, and small, free schools like ours. Our goal is to teach the world how to use and why to choose free software and it would be wonderful if you joined us!
We look forward to meeting you and are excited for you to be part of the libre community!

Small is Beautiful - SFS Gathering In-Person
the Software Freedom School HQ: comfy room, 4237 W. Grand Ave., LIttleton, CO, USOn SFS 1st Saturday, everyone participates
You could be handed the talking stick. Be ready. Bring a piece of libre hardware, a bit of libre code, a news article, or a question you've been pondering.
Alex Wise and David L. Willson will be handed the "It's my turn" token.
Alex introduced Conrad, the Software Freedom School AI Assistant, to the world at SFS' birthday party on Pi Day. Now he will lift up the hood and walk through how Conrad was made, as well as show a sneak peek at labs from the AI Camp he has been busy building.
David L. Willson will show the messy pile of code that makes the Fish Stick and ask for suggestions of how to improve it.
So, come join your (new) friends in the Free Software community. Let's build digital freedom and celebrate collaborative technology together by sharing everything from practical, everyday tips and tricks to cutting edge projects. Build friendships while you share and learn!
