ONLINE: Game Programming with Stencyl

Details
Have a game idea but don't know how to start?
Intimidated by the complexities of unit tests and compilation?
Want an engaging, educational distraction for your kids?
Stencyl is an open-source, visual programming tool that makes it quick and easy to put together a 2D game: Platformer, shooter, arcade... You can even publish games to Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store! (That's out of scope for this class, but still cool.)
9th-grader Conor Brown will teach you the basics of Stencyl and guide you through putting together your own game.
Requirements:
-
This class will be hosted on Zoom.
-
You can use a Mac, Windows, Linux, or Chromebook computer.
-
You can run Stencyl on your own Mac, Windows, or Linux computer. If you're going to go this route, please make sure you have the app installed prior to class. http://www.stencyl.com/download/
-
Alternatively, SFS can provide remote workstations with Stencyl preinstalled. If you need this, please let us know in advance. And please install Microsoft Remote Desktop on your Mac, Windows, or Linux computer prior to class. If you're using Linux, we recommend Remmina.
-
Chromebooks must use the remote workstation option, so please install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the Play Store prior to class. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android&hl=en_US
