Film "The Stranger"
Details
This is a new (2025) film adaptation of the 1942 book by Albert Camus, exploring one particular (fictional) existential life. I've seen the 1967 film directed by Luchino Visconti and starring Marcello Mastroianni, which I found thought-provoking but, though true to the original, not particlarly well-delivered. (Operatic ennui?) I'll be interested to see how this one compares.

I am hosting this is as a joint event with the Indie Film Meetup Group.
GUEST SPEAKER
Dr Nacer Khelouz will explore Camus and Algeria, drawing on his expertise in Francophone literature, colonial and post-colonial studies, and contemporary French culture. So, ... this may run long. I don't yet know the format (e.g., before, after, both?) so we'll play it by ear whether we want to go out for a snack and discussion following the event.)
