### What to Bring
Prepare as you would for a day hike. Wear comfortable clothes suitable for movement and the weather. Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are a must—tennis shoes or hiking boots are best.
Gloves are strongly recommended. You’re welcome to bring your own, or purchase a pair from Southeaster Mountain Guides for $5.
Vendor sells snacks and drinks onsite. Most folks also bring a packed lunch to enjoy at our picnic tables.
### What to Expect
Your adventure begins with a hands-on orientation. From there, you'll climb at your own pace, always under staff supervision. You'll be geared up with a helmet, harness, and cable-secured tethers.
The Via Ferrata has 6 sections:
- 2 beginner
- 1 intermediate
- 2 advanced
- 1 expert
Take breaks or exit the course as needed—there are 6 access points. Most guests spend 4–6 hours, and you're welcome to climb until dusk. Relax at one of our observation decks or picnic spots when you're done!
### Weather Info
We’re open rain or shine!
The rock and rebar stay climbable even when wet, and most guests enjoy the experience regardless of the forecast. In fact, rainy-day climbers often say:
- “What an awesome, unique experience!”
- “It was so peaceful having the course to ourselves.”
- “The muddy trails were the hardest part—but worth it!”
We pause for thunderstorms. For your safety, activities won’t resume until 30 minutes after the last lightning or thunder, at our staff’s discretion.
If you have weather concerns, feel free to reach out before your trip.
### Bringing a Dog?
We recommend leaving pets at home.
If your dog comes along, it must be leashed and supervised at all times—no exceptions. That means no tying up dogs to trees, vehicles, or picnic tables.
### Gratuity
Our crew is passionate about what we do, and we’re always learning to serve you better. Tipping is optional but always appreciated—either during check-in or at the end of your trip. Management recommends 20%.
We’re so excited to share our beautiful cliff lines and the via ferrata experience with you.
See you soon at Southeast Mountain Guides!
