What we’re about
We are a diverse and inclusive group of hiking enthusiasts who are interested in morning, day, and overnight hikes including an occasional extended base camp and/or backpacking trip. We enjoy exploring Gauteng, our neighbouring provinces and the rest of South Africa and discovering the amazing outdoor adventures that nature has to offer on our doorstep. Together we will unveil the Pretoria/Johannesburg surroundings one trail at a time.
We strive to provide our members with a wide variety of hiking adventures without repeating the same trails excessively within a calendar year. We aim to organise at least 2 hikes every Sunday - simple local hike in Pretoria/Joburg as well as a more complex hike in the surrounding area e.g. the Magaliesberg. We also organise a hike on most public holidays. This ensures a new adventure each and every week.
Sole Mates provides opportunities for hiking enthusiasts with some hiking experience and fitness levels to explore some of the more challenging hiking venues. Hikers with an intermediate fitness level, all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
If you are just beginning and are unsure of you fitness level, we recommend first joining one of our easy or moderate local hikes. The hiking difficulty is stated in each of our hikes trail information.

I, accordingly, hereby irrevocably waive, relinquish and abandon all claims of any nature whatsoever which I or my guest or guests may have against the Club or any of its members, arising out of participation in club activities and activities organised by or on behalf of the club, for loss or damage to property, personal injury or loss of life, howsoever caused and irrespective of whether the loss or damage occurred as a result of negligence.
3. I agree that the terms and conditions contained herein will remain binding upon me, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns.

Sole Mates Annual Membership for 2023 (as of 1 January 2023)
Adults: R390
Children: R200
Single Hike Admin Fee
If you are not an Annual Member, an Admin Fee will be due. This fee also applies to any guests.

Payments can be made via EFT (Banking details below).
Alternatively, you can pay by card at most hikes... Tap and Go.
We also accept cash but please have the correct amount as we likely will not have change.
