Details
CNC machines can create incredible parts for you, but they can be frustratingly hard to learn to use! One critical part in the CNC machining process is generating the motions (tool paths) that you want the machine to follow. This process is referred to as Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). For the two CNC machines at Solid State Depot we recommend that folks learn Fusion 360 for CAM. Fusion 360 is a free for personal design software (get your free account here) that has excellent machining tools.
This class will cover the essentials of how to create a CNC program in fusion 360:
- Creating / Importing parts
- Setting up a fixture
- Defining tools
- Generating operations
- Exporting a gcode file
This class will be mostly lecture style with live demos in Fusion 360. This class is free and open to the public.
