The Solitudinals: Body Doubling for Neurodivergent Women Solopreneurs
Boulder, CO
The Solitudinals is a supportive group for neurodivergent women solopreneurs in Boulder who want to move the needle on their businesses, projects, or personal goals—together.
We meet regularly for body double sessions, a powerful practice especially helpful for those with ADHD or autism. In these sessions, simply working alongside others—quietly and with intention—can help boost focus, motivation, and task initiation.
### Our Agenda:
We follow a Pomodoro-style format:
- Start with a quick check-in to say what you’re working on
- Choose a work interval, set a timer, and begin
- Pause to check in and reset when the timer goes off
- Repeat for as many rounds as we like within the 1.5 hour timeframe
You’re welcome to stay for the full session or just drop in. We also take time at the beginning and end to settle in and wrap up.
This group is for neurodivergent women solopreneurs who want to work with others who get it—who understand the challenges of navigating focus, motivation, follow-through, and self-employment in a neurotypical world.
Our goal is simple: create a calm, understanding space to get things done—together.
### Why body doubling works:
🔁 External structure supports internal regulation
Neurodivergent people often struggle with executive function—the mental processes that help us plan, start, and complete tasks. A body double (someone quietly present while you work) can provide external structure that compensates for internal challenges.
👀 Built-in passive accountability
Just having someone else around—even if they’re not actively engaging—can increase your sense of responsibility. It creates a low-pressure form of accountability that helps reduce procrastination or task paralysis.
🧠 Co-regulation of attention
Working near someone focused can help you stay engaged—like borrowing a bit of their concentration.
🛑 Reduces isolation and shame
Neurodivergent individuals often feel shame about struggling with “simple” tasks. Body doubling offers emotional relief: you're not alone, and your struggles are valid. It creates a safer space for productivity.
🔄 Helps you get started
Initiating a task—known as task activation—is a common hurdle. A body double can make it easier to start, which is often the hardest part. Once started, many people find it easier to keep going.
This event takes place at Verb Coffee Roasters in Boulder, CO.
