Meeting Point – Westwood Social Club Car Park, Orchard Close. BA15 2AP
The walk will begin though Westwood Village, heading down to the K&A Canal tow path towards Bradford-On-Avon. Once reaching the canal, we will turn westwards to Avoncliff along the tow path, and then on to Freshford alongside the River Avon.
From Freshford, we will follow the River Frome back to Westwood on bridleways and across fields, passing Iford Village and Farleigh Hungerford Castle on route.
The walk is mostly flat, with one short steep lane section nearing the end to get back up to Westwood. Please ensure appropriate footwear, as some parts of the walk may be wet and muddy.
Parking
Free parking is available at Westwood Social Club. There is another event at the Social Club on 29th, so if full additional parking can be found in the surrounding streets, such as Tynnings Way or Leslie Rise, with footpaths connecting back to the Social Club. Lunch
Lunch is booked for 2pm at the nearby New Inn, which is a short walk from the Social Club. (New Inn, 80 Westwood Rd, BA15 2AE). – See menu in photos.
If you wish to join, please confirm food order with your RSVP, or message me separately. Due to the pub being fairly small, I have capped lunch at 20 places on this occasion, but others can join just for the walk.
