Hey everyone! It’s been a while! This is Jen, Loren’s occasional event host who’s still in NJ. It’s been tough for me to find/organize events, work’s got me running all over but it looks like I’ll be home for this - so excited!!!

My town has an annual bonfire extravaganza (their word AND mine!) that makes for great photo opportunities!

Back before we were environmentally conscious, they used to burn people’s Christmas trees after the holidays. Now I don’t know what they burn, but I guess it’s not so toxic 🤷‍♀️

We went as a group a few years ago and it was great! Firemen manage the huge bonfire, people enjoying carriage rides, and now there’s fireworks, too!

It’s free to attend, please bring a canned food donation for the local food pantry.

Let’s meet by the hot chocolate stand. This is a fun exercise where we’re shooting in darkness but at very bright light - use a high ISO and fast shutter speed to freeze the flames, or go low and slow for a more dreamy image. Tripods are tricky here, need to be mindful there are kids running around, it’s dark - I dont want anyone knocking over my gear so I’ll either hand shoot (sorry Loren) or use a monopod.

I hope to see you then!

-Jeni
