SMC Trail Work Volunteer Day
Details
TRAIL WORK this month we will again work on improving the Lenape crossing of the Beech Brook Cascades by creating a reroute away from the rickety bridges (which we plan to eventually replace). In the past two months, we have directed several SMC groups toward this goal and have made exceptional progress. We hope to get the reroute into reasonable condition in order to open it up before winter descends in full force.
We will meet at the Dog Park (10 Bear Lane) and head down to the Lenape Trail from there. Moderate rain or snow cancels. In the past two months, we have made exceptional progress
Trail work is physically challenging but very satisfying as we use hand tools to build and repair trails. Participants must be 15+ years. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should wear long pants due to ticks and sturdy shoes, and bring gloves (though backup gloves will be available). Tools, water, and a snack will be provided. (Registration is not required though if you sign up on Meetup, it helps us know how many tools to bring and you don't have to sign our liability waiver.)
