This 4-session therapist-led group is designed for parents of teenagers (13–19 years) who want to better understand adolescence and build calmer, more connected relationships with their children. Parenting a teenager can feel overwhelming, confusing, and emotionally draining. Through science-backed insights, real-life reflections, and practical parenting tools, this group helps reduce stress, improve communication, increase cooperation, and nurture respect and emotional safety at home.
### Who is the Group For?
This group is for parents who often feel disconnected, misunderstood, or constantly in conflict with their teens. It is especially helpful for those wanting clearer guidance, emotional support, and research-informed strategies to navigate teenage behavior, emotions, and independence—while strengthening warmth, trust, and connection in the parent-child relationship.
### What We’ll Talk About:
- Understanding the Teenage Brain: Exploring adolescent development, emotional regulation, and why teens behave the way they do.
- Parent Stress & Self-Regulation: Learning tools to manage frustration, overwhelm, and emotional reactivity as a parent.
- Parenting Traps & Helpful Alternatives: Identifying common patterns that escalate conflict and replacing them with healthier responses.
- Communication & Cooperation: Building skills that promote understanding, mutual respect, and greater willingness from teens to cooperate.
- Values, Boundaries & Discipline: Reflecting on your parenting style, setting clearer expectations, and cultivating consistency without harshness.
- Strengthening Connection: Finding ways to rebuild closeness, empathy, and trust while supporting your teen’s independence.
### What to Expect:
The program begins with understanding the adolescent brain and emotional world to bring clarity and compassion into parenting. Participants gradually learn strategies to reduce their own stress while responding more calmly and intentionally. Midway through, the focus shifts to improving communication, reducing conflict, and encouraging cooperation. The final sessions emphasize building deeper connection, strengthening trust, and developing a confident, balanced parenting approach. By the end, parents feel more equipped, grounded, and connected in their relationship with their teen.
