Artist Branding & Social Media Basics is a free, hands-on workshop that introduces the fundamentals of building your identity as an artist in today’s music industry. Hosted in Sound Collective’s New York City studios, this two-hour session focuses on understanding what makes an artist brand effective, how to communicate your story, and how to use social media intentionally to grow an audience. You’ll work through practical exercises alongside experienced music industry professionals, explore real-world examples, and leave with a clearer understanding of how artists develop a recognizable presence online.

DJ Basics is a free, hands-on 2-hour workshop that gives you a real introduction to what DJing actually involves. Hosted in our NYC studios, the session covers the core fundamentals: how DJs read a track, control tempo, cue the next song, and move between records without breaking the energy. A professional DJ walks you through the basics on industry-standard gear, then puts you behind the decks to try it yourself.

​This is not a lecture or a feature tour. It is a genuine first session with real DJs, built to give you an honest read on whether DJing is a craft you want to pursue further. Recording Basics is a free, hands-on workshop designed for anyone wanting to learn how to capture clean, professional sound. Hosted in Sound Collective’s New York City studios, you’ll learn how engineers set up microphones, manage signal flow, and dial in proper levels to get great vocal and instrument takes. Whether you’ve never touched a studio microphone or have been curious about audio engineering for years, the Recording Basics workshop gives you a real first experience tracking audio in a commercial studio environment. No experience or prerequisites required. However, RSVP is required.

Production Basics is a free, hands-on 2-hour workshop that gives you a real introduction to making music from scratch. Hosted in our NYC studios, the session focuses on one core skill: building your first groove and loop. A professional producer walks you through how a beat actually comes together, from picking sounds to laying down patterns to shaping an idea into something that sounds like a track.
