Recording Basics is a free, hands-on workshop designed for anyone wanting to learn how to capture clean, professional sound. Hosted in Sound Collective’s New York City studios, you’ll learn how engineers set up microphones, manage signal flow, and dial in proper levels to get great vocal and instrument takes. Whether you’ve never touched a studio microphone or have been curious about audio engineering for years, the Recording Basics workshop gives you a real first experience tracking audio in a commercial studio environment. No experience or prerequisites required. However, RSVP is required.

Workstations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend arriving early to secure a spot. If all workstations are taken by the time you arrive, you’re still more than welcome to join the session, observe, and jump on the gear during open practice time!
