Come one, come all for my fellow LGBTQIA+ folks! Have you been wanting to make more friends across the pride rainbow? Wanting a safe space to hang out while also getting to try new activities with your future best friends? Then the Sounds gay. I'm in! is right for you!
This group is to meet and have fun with new and interesting people across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. We'll hold meetups at gay bars, coffee shops, volunteering, and activities! We're open to lots of suggestions for what interests y'all, the goal is provide a safe and fun atmosphere for all.
Let me be perfectly queer- if your excited to get out and make new friends, we can't wait to meet you!

Let's go a little deeper than our everyday conversations and connect over a discussion about emotions and mental health. This is a safe space to have meaningful discussions about emotions and experiences we go through in life. If you like to read about, learn about, and discuss these topics, this group is for you!
We will use Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown as a framework and prompt. Brené has compiled 87 emotional and cognitive experiences and detailed a grounded theory for connection! Reading the book is optional as I'll likely read aloud much of it over our meetings and have a copy available at meetings.
I've found it to be a great resource. I encourage you to check it out from your local library or purchase a copy!

How to find us: Weather permitting we will be meeting in the roundabout parking lot at Shawnee Mission Park until further notice. The lot is surrounded by several large trees under which we can relax and discuss. Bring your blanket/chair and something to sip! Stay tuned to the event chat for updates.
Bad weather backup location: Cafe Equinox - Nieman (Shawnee location)
Cafe Equinox is inside the Family Tree Nursery - Nieman (we will be at the Shawnee location). When you enter, you'll find yourself in the retail space. The cafe bar will be on your right. After you grab a choice beverage, join us in the greenhouse to the left of the retail space.
