SCHEDULING/CANCELLATIONS: Date is not confirmed in full until 3 days out from the listed date to better predict and avoid bad weather/play conditions. Kansas is ever moody and can but adjust to her whims. For those interested in regular disc golf in cool company, the aim is to have these from weekly to every other week.
Regular players of all skill/no skill are welcome. Join us as you can! If weather changes after a date is fully set (<3 days out) to where it's really chilly/super hot (below 55 or above 95 degrees Fahrenheit as the high), really windy or looks very rainy/stormy I will cancel by 8 PM the night before.
HOW TO FIND US: Look for us at/near hole 1. I will be wearing a black paracord bracelet with rainbow-colored highlights on it. I will also be either carrying/rolling a disc golf bag with a bright orange hand towel hanging from it. Generally I will hold off from starting out on a given round for 10-15 minutes if someone RSVPed but hasn't shown. After that, simply follow the course layout on the UDisc app to catch up to us
WHAT TO EXPECT/BRING: I plan to play the whole course, but feel free to go as long as you like. You don't have to throw discs if just want to hike along with us and be social as we play. That and enjoying Gaia is at least half the reason I go. That said, rules will be taught as needed if you do play. All levels are welcome, including brand new players. It's not about being highly competitive in these rounds. It's more about enjoying nature, being social and physically active for the many benefits that come with that.
A few extra discs will be provided, but if we get more than 4 (besides the organizer), consider dropping by a local disc golf store and asking for a beginner driver, mid-range and putter. You can get by with a single driver and putter. Just generally avoid the cheapest plastic to get a more durable disc. Store staff will generally help guide you if asked.
The listed duration is for the hiking/golfing. If want to join me, I'll head to the Chipotle on 119th before going to watch Mortal Combat 2 right after this event. See the MK2 event listing for more.
SUN/BUG SAFETY: Don't regret it, bring your sunscreen and bug repellent! I highly recommend the spray on kind for sunscreen as it's so much easier. Just throw it on your car and leave it there!
