To our wonderful community,
We have made the decision to indefinitely postpone the South Asian LGBTQIA+ Gala Dinner.
We acknowledge the importance of this Gala Dinner and the anticipation surrounding it.
However, we would like to take the time to carefully plan and address any potential concerns presented to us in the past few days to ensure that if/when we do host this event that it is a meaningful, safe and successful event. We are committed to ensuring that the necessary resources, financial, cultural and psychological, are in place to provide an enriching experience for everyone involved.
We always aim to prioritise the safety and inclusivity of the community when hosting our events - this event is no different - we want to ensure that we are creating a safe and supportive environment that meets the diverse needs of individuals within the community. We are dedicated to providing the necessary support to community members during the event. Additionally, we want to ensure that we host an event that truly represents and supports the community.
In the meantime, we will continue to host our monthly South Asian LGTBQIA+ Safe Space meet-ups. These are smaller-scale, chill events that are free of cost and focus on fostering connection and support within the South Asian LGBTQIA+ community.
