About us

We're a group of folks 50 & over who do moderate hikes, mostly in the South Bay on Saturday Mornings and alternating Wednesdays, 6-9 miles max at a moderate pace. For this group it's more about the community, camaraderie and journey than the destination, meet new friends who want to hike, and then go out to lunch after. Sort of like going to party where you get some exercise.

Hiking and changing weather and trail conditions can be dangerous. IMPORTANT: THIS HIKE DOES NOT USE THE FELTON EMPIRE ROAD PARKING LOT. Meetup is in the San Lorenzo H.S. parking lot at 7105 California 9 · Felton, CA
We will start this hike from the parking lot and then hike up High School Trail and follow this route: map. Approx 7.75 miles and 800' elevation gain.
There are restrooms at the school which may or may not be open. Plan accordingly. I recommend stopping at Safeway on the way.

After the hike it's off to one of my faves: Jia Tellas, conveniently located at 18 Victor Square Ext, Scotts Valley, CA 95066 with super easy access to 17.
IOPQ this week will be: What was the most memorable thing for you during the 25th olympics (or if you didn't see any, what did you do rather than watching the games?)
ATTENDANCE: If you are signed up for a hike, or on the waitlist, please remove yourself to the "not going " list as soon as you become unsure about attending, so another wait lister can have adequate notice that they are going. Also, it is not okay to just show up to a hike you are not listed as "going" to. Hikers who violate these policies will have that information noted on their permanent record, and their parents may be notified.

DO NOT ATTEND if you're experiencing any cold or flu symptoms, have a compromised immune system, or if you've been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19.
