About us
We're a group of folks 50 & over who do moderate hikes, mostly in the South Bay on Saturday Mornings and alternating Wednesdays, 6-9 miles max at a moderate pace. For this group it's more about the community, camaraderie and journey than the destination, meet new friends who want to hike, and then go out to lunch after. Sort of like going to party where you get some exercise.
Disclaimer: I'm doing this because I like hiking and meeting such wonderful people. We're all grownups at this point and you're responsible for your health and safety. Hiking and changing weather and trail conditions can be dangerous. By signing up for these events, you agree to release South Bay 50+ Social Hikers and especially me and any other organizers from any responsibility, liability, or claim in law or in equity. If you don't agree to these terms, DO NOT join this meetup event. You are responsible for yourself. Please come prepared with appropriate hiking shoes, gear, water and a sense of humor.

For those wanting to continue the fun, join me for the music of the Cocktail Monkeys at Rock the Dock at 3:30 at the Port of Redwood City.
The IOPQ will be : Is there a particular song which brings back a memory from your past? If so what is the song & what is the memory (if you're willing to share!)

You must sign up for the shift and if this is your first time volunteering for Second Harvest you will also need to fill out the volunteer application. Sign up here: 9AM shift Wednesday, May 20th Everyone will go directly to the waiting list. Once you confirm that you have secured a spot with second harvest, comment on the event & I will add you to the going list.
I have done this several times & it feels like a very good use of my volunteer time. Unlike other places I have volunteered at, I am usefully employed the entire time. They also play music which helps the time fly by LOL. I'm open to suggestions for lunch places after as well, otherwise we will likely end up at Vito's Trattoria since they have nice outdoor seating & good food.
Be sure to dress warmly as it is quite chilly inside the warehouse. I especially like to wear wool socks so my feet don't get cold on the concrete floor.
We will meet out front at 8:50 but if you come once we've gone in use the rightmost entrance. Note that if you come in more than a few minutes late you will not be allowed to participate so try to be early.
