What we’re about
We're a group of folks 50 & over who do moderate hikes, mostly in the South Bay on Saturday Mornings and alternating Wednesdays, 6-9 miles max at a moderate pace. For this group it's more about the community, camaraderie and journey than the destination, meet new friends who want to hike, and then go out to lunch after. Sort of like going to party where you get some exercise.
Disclaimer: I'm doing this because I like hiking and meeting such wonderful people. We're all grownups at this point and you're responsible for your health and safety. Hiking and changing weather and trail conditions can be dangerous. By signing up for these events, you agree to release South Bay 50+ Social Hikers and especially me and any other organizers from any responsibility, liability, or claim in law or in equity. If you don't agree to these terms, DO NOT join this meetup event. You are responsible for yourself. Please come prepared with appropriate hiking shoes, gear, water and a sense of humor.

Almaden Quicksilver (Webb Canyon) w/ Lazy Dog.
Almaden Quicksilver County Park, 21785 Almaden Rd, San Jose, CA, USPLEASE NOTE THE 9:30 AM START TIME. HOPEFULLY TRAFFIC WILL BE BETTER WITH A LATER START.
This hike is Approximately 7 miles, with 1200 ft. elevation gain
The trail head head starts on Web Canyon Dr in Almaden. There is no dedicated parking lot, but there are plenty of spaces available along the neighboring streets. Please be respectful of this quiet area.
The short, lightly trafficked Webb Canyon Trail at the bottom starts with a paved access road (closed to cars) then branches into the woods as a narrow trail along a beautiful hillside, especially in the fall with a blanket of new grass.
The trail then continues (on both sides) along a portion of New Almaden Trail, which is a narrow, shaded, canyon carving trail that zigzags in and out of the canyons at the feet of the Almaden hills with occasional short changes of elevation.
The top of the trail is a section of Randol and Mine Hill Trails, which are much wider and more trafficked (including by bikes) and with generally less shade.
Look for us at the Trailhead at 7072 Webb Canyon Dr, San Jose
