Let's hike the Slate Creek lollipop trail with a short detour up to see the old tree, a magnificent 1200 year old Redwood. Then it’s up Slate Creek without a paddle to the site of the Historic Page Mill. As you probably know, William Page made a fortune in the 1800’s logging and milling redwood shakes for the construction of what was to later become Silicon Valley. But have you ever wondered, as you drove down his legacy, Page Mill Rd, perhaps there is another, darker side to this story?

Will the carnage of old growth redwood stumps cry out to us to hear of the unspeakable atrocities that were inflicted upon them by Mr. Page’s Mill? Well, probably not since Redwood Trees are not big wimps, but an interesting thought nonetheless.
About 7 completely shaded miles with 1350' of elevation gain. See how many Banana Slugs you can count. The usual tick and poison oak precautions apply.
There are restrooms at the parking lot. Pay $10 ($9 if you have a fake ID' over 62) at the Park Headquarters and put your receipt in your windshield. Might be cash only.
