Hi everyone! Welcome to our book club! My name is Kate, your book club organizer. I figured it’s worth sharing how this group came about. I came across Ann Morgan’s TED talk on her journey reading a book from every country and was really impressed. I looked back at my shelf and realized how limited my reading list has been. I hope this group could be a challenge for every member, especially for those who would love to expand their reading list to include a worldview. Both international and local members are welcome!
We will host monthly book clubs where we pick a country and read a book from/on that country. We could even explore the food and movies of that country. I will be gathering information from Ann Morgan’s blog, and other reference books for title selection. Welcome any suggestions for titles from members as well!

Hi everyone! For our next stop, we are heading over to Japan🇯🇵!
🌐 Featured Book: Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami. Science fiction, detective story and post-modern manifesto all rolled into one rip-roaring novel, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is the tour de force that expanded Haruki Murakami's international following. Tracking one man's descent into the Kafkaesque underworld of contemporary Tokyo, Murakami unites East and West, tragedy and farce, compassion and detachment, slang and philosophy.
📍 Location: Monticello Apartment Homes, 3575 Monroe St, Santa Clara, CA 95051. Details will be provided to participants week of event.
🍽️ Japan Feast: We will order in from Tanto, and will ask everyone to chip in ($30-50pp). We will do family style or semi-family style and split the bill evenly. Hope everyone's ok with that! I will email participants re dietary restrictions week of event!
🍸Japanese Snacks/Drinks: Japanese snacks are my favorite. I will get some Japanese snacks and wine/sake!
🎶 Japanese Music: I will share with everyone my favorite Japanese band! And of course suggestions are always welcome

Due to the amount of effort put in and limited space, we would love to provide the spots for committed members. Please keep your RSVP up to date. No shows or late cancellations will be removed from the group. A late cancellation is a cancellation within 7 calendar days of the event. (Would like to give any waitlisted member time to read the book.) If there is a legitimate reason, please let me know and I would reconsider!🌟 P.S.
