Cool Wednesday Evening Walk at Shoreline(<6mi or 4 mi options)

Take a hike! It’s projected to be a very warm day in the 80-90s inland, but 78F this Wednesday at the Baylands! Let’s have a nice afternoon walk! Winds may pick up to keep us cooler…Let’s get our steps in and our hearts ♥️ up! This event was moved to Wednesday because on Tuesday Santana and Earth Wind and Fire are at shoreline amphitheater!

Energize yourself by breathing in fresh ocean breezes and stretch your muscles after a long sedentary day indoors. Refresh your eyes in the natural light after staring at your computer blue light all day. End the day with a fun moment with friends and socialize after a day at work.

Go on a brisk afternoon walk starting at the Shoreline Boathouse. We will skirt along the Lake shore heading towards Palo Alto Baylands on an „out and back“ route about 6 miles along the sloughs and bay. Breathe in the fresh clean breezy sea air as we stroll along the shores, chatting and birdwatching, while exercising and achieving your 12,000+ steps in for the day! We will walk an hour and stop at the bridge before entering Byxbee due to time constraints with sunset and return. If you are a bit slower, don’t fret, we will „catch“ you on the return. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SHORELINE MOUNTAIN VIEW SIDE. We will wait only 5 minutes, so make sure to be on time.

Recommended: good sturdy shoes for gravelly dirt paths, hat, sunscreen, water, etc.

SHORELINE BOATHOUSE DIRECTIONS: Directions and parking: drive into SHORELINE park via NORTH EXIT shoreline blvd off of 101 freeway. Enter past kiosk gate and drive “straight”. Follow signs for LAKESIDE CAFE/Sailing, snake past all lots/buildings until the very last lot. When you see kayaks, boats,and you can not go any further, That is the boathouse. Park anywhere in this free lot.

See Map in photos for 4 mile option (dogs are allowed here): From SAN ANTONIO entrance, walk directly in about 100 yds, and stop at intersection. Catch us at the intersection of the two trails (Bay trail and Adobe Creek trail starred in purple in photo)near singleton service building. If you are choosing this option, let me know by writing it in comments so I know to expect you at this intersection. Be at this location about 545-550, 15 min after out shoreline start time. Dogs are allowed on this part of the trail, however if you and dog can not keep up with group, you MAY have to walk alone/slower. Accompanying dogs should be people and Animal friendly!

SAN ANTONIO ENTRANCE for late starters, dog walkers, shorter walk: Directions and parking. drive into San Antonio Rd NORTH EXIT off of 101 freeway. Drive 200yds to the end of San Antonio, an L corner intersection where only a right turn is possible. Turn right onto Terminal Blvd. The left side is lined with head-in parking along this entire long block that edges the preserve. The right side is parallel street parking of industrial zone. Park anywhere. There is an wooden gate entrance into Baylands. Go straight past bathrooms about 100 yds, to the intersection and wait we will arrive about 15 minutes after we start walking. (BE FOREWARNED: there is another Baylands trailhead on Embarcadero, which is NOT the meeting location.)

Never leave valuables in your car, bring only minimum and carry on body. If you HAVE to(at your own risk), it is wiser to lock everything in your trunk BEFORE arriving, so no one sees you putting it in trunk.
