Memorial Weekend: Shady Los Altos Foothills Hike + Picnic In The Park

Hello dear friends, let's go hiking! And this time, we'll have a picnic in the beautiful park after the hike. 🧺

This trail begins with a steady climb to the top of the hills within Foothills Nature Preserve. The trail is a mix of shady, forested areas and open areas with nice views. In the late spring and early summer, there are beautiful wildflowers throughout. The trail is well-signed and well-maintained. The loop can be hiked in either direction.

Trail details: 4+ mi length, approx. 700 ft elevation, 2h 15m estimated time, moderate route.

As always, if you are not confident about doing a hike with this elevation and some rocky terrain, then you may not be able to finish.
This trail starts beside the restrooms in the parking lot off Orchard Glen Picnic Area - Los Altos Hills.
Parking is approximately $6, so we recommend carpooling if possible.

Picnic after the hike starting around 12:30pm: (Not mandatory to join the hike before) Anyone who'd like to join the picnic in the park should contribute by bringing food or drinks to share with everyone else, store-bought or homemade both work. No junk food please: Potato Chips, Pretzels for example. Suggested minimum spend is $10 per person, depending on how much you plan to eat.

While we don't like leaving people on the waitlist, this hike has a maximum capacity per park rules. Unfortunately, I may not be able to let everyone join; however, I'll try to add additional people from the waitlist as possible. No offense intended, but regular hikers with the group get priority.

Caution: Some narrow, rocky trails.
Bring: Water, sunscreen, and a shaded hat.
