Let’s Chat: “The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny” by Kiran Desai - Part 1

For May, we will be discussing Desai’s newest book about two young Indian protagonists, Sonia and Sunny, who navigate love, family, and cultural alienation between India and the US, exploring themes of identity, class, race, and history through their intertwined lives and a hesitant romance that challenges tradition. Set in a modern post colonial world, this book unapologetically exposes cultural stereotypes, human weaknesses and one’s longing to be loved and seen.

We will only be discussing until end of Part 8 during this meetup. The rest of the book will be discussed in June.
