Southcoast walk/hike fort Taber and Fort Rodman and Cisco brewery!!

Join me in my "neck of the woods," the little known Clark's Point Peninsula which features Fort Taber and Fort Rodman (as well as a Military museum) on the southern most tip of New Bedford offering gorgeous views of Buzzards bay and Martha's vineyard in the distance when the weather is clear.

We will be walking along the water making our way from the east side of the peninsula toward the park, which is on the southern tip, where the Forts are located.

We will be walking around the peninsula and then following around the West side of the peninsula, stopping into the popular Kilburn Mill (bathroom break) with optional Cove walk on the Hurricane barrier/wall which surrounds Clark's Cove.

After this, we may go back the way we came with a short cut and/or make a bee-line to the famous Cisco's Brewery for something to eat/drink.

Finally for those interested in doing the other side of the hurricane barrier/wall which is found near Cisco's we can continue along that wall and if tide is low pm on this date we may be able to walk to the little island found on the inner new bedford harbor. if there is interest we could adjust our start time to do this too or another time.

According to the website, the museum at Fort Taber, is open 1-4pm on sundays so that could allow time for people to visit, another option based on interest

This will be about a 5 mile walk total not including the Cove walks/hurricane barrier walls which could add another mile or so depending on whether or not we do both and/or do them completely. We can take a group vote.

Looks like Ciscos has a live music brunch on sundays 10-2pm

Please wear layers since it can get windy along the water and the southern tip of the peninsula, especially can be very windy.

We will be walking on mostly paved surfaces. Please wear appropriate footwear and water for hydration and snacks as needed.
