Description - Downs Link Dawdle - Shoreham to Bramber Return
With an eye on a group multi-day walk next Spring of this repurposed Shoreham to Guildford railway line, I thought we'd get a taste of it by walking from the coast to the first village - Bramber & back. Yes, it's long but it's also flat, easy walking, mostly shaded, with far reaching countryside, riverside, and decaying industrial views, when the trees part to reveal their vistas. The length varies depending on the joining and return options chosen.
We will start at the “Ropetackle” (cafe & loos), in Shoreham and cross the bridge to the car park, (loos and you can join us here), then walk alongside the airport to the next bridge by the Red Lion, (another joining point), which we cross to join the “Downs Link” path. Then to Bramber, stopping for coffee en route, (a turn back point for those who wish), where we will lunch in the grounds of the castle ruins and look around the church, which is adjacent. We will return by the same route, which provides a 180 degree change of scenery.
We should finish around 14:30 / 15:00 depending on pace.
