Ancient Future House Concert in Santa Clara

For nearly 40 years, guitarist Matthew Montfort has led the band Ancient Future, the world's first and longest-running band dedicated exclusively to the mission of creating world fusion music. Matthew studied Indian traditional music at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, and formed Ancient Future with like-minded classmates who wanted to explore and blend music of many cultures. The band takes many forms, with masters of diverse instruments from all over the world—violin, cello, keyboards, flutes, sitar, drums of all kinds, santur, gu zheng, and more.

In this intimate house concert, Matthew’s scalloped fretboard guitar work will be accompanied by Vishal Nagar’s amazing tabla drumming. For a preview of their music, check out this 10-minute video:
