Free Salsa At Southbank with Damian Andrees
Brisbane Free Salsa Lesson at the beach + yoga & picnic We create this event together. Feel totally comfortable to come on your own, we'll make you feel welcome and you'll be dancing or picnic with everyone anyway! It is my small initiative to make the world a better place so I decided to donated my time. It is all amateur so don't expect anything fancy or high produced. LOCATION We will be at Brisbane Artificial beach on Sunday “Ernest St Pkwy” corner “The Arbour St”, you can google “Southbank Beer Garden” (30ba Stanley Street Plaza) as a reference point. From there you should be able to see a big surfboard. We will be at the beach. It'll be amazing :) YOGA I will do a free Yoga lesson, you'll lay down facing up and cover your eyes with something like a t-shirt or towel. You'll take a deep slow breath in through your nose (you'll count it “1”) and slow breath out through your mouth (you'll count it “2”), like this you'll count till 10 and then start from 1 again. The challenge is to not keep counting after 10 but to return to 1 instead. SALSA I will do a free open for all beginners Cuban/Colombian Salsa lesson (not LA Salsa). The most important step in Salsa is a smile, we all come to have fun and enjoy. Shy and two left feet are all welcome, It is about to have fun not about being the best dancer so we will close up the lesson with a Conga Line and a Limbo competition, don't miss it out! We will practice to avoid dry moves, to me, the hips move cover around 80% of the whole dance. I like to turn Salsa into a party and not a routine. I want to maintain a great atmosphere so positive energy and humbleness is welcome. Together we will learn the “basico” step (back & forward step), “Rumba” step (side to side step), “Cuban basic” (back step) and close up the lesson with “number 8” move (spin). The most important of all is the secret weapon "shimmy shimmy" step but i will not tell you, i will keep you intrigued till the lesson. And remember, it doesn't matter to me if you dance like a dinosaur, it is all about having FUN ! PICNIC We will have a picnic before, during and afterwards. It can be vegan or vegetarian or organic food, Vegan people will put a spoon vertical on the group, vegetarian people a knife and organic food a fork, so bring something to share. Once the picnic is on we will have social Salsa dancing, you have the choice to dance or keep enjoining your picnic, why not bring your cards games or beach games. MUSICIANS Please bring your guitar, it will be fun if we all could sing some songs together. RULES It is good to settle some rules so we respect each other and start practicing our “awareness” 1.-”ONE INSTRUCTOR, ONE MOVE TO LEARN, ONE GROUP”: During the lesson please do not separate the group. After the lesson will be time for social dancing where you can do all the moves you want. 2.- NOT ALCOHOL AFTER 8PM, I am not sure so we will check that with the life guards. 3.- If someone seem alone, please integrate that person quickly CONTRIBUTING I am quite new to Brisbane, so many Facebook groups that I don't know so please post this event in other fb groups, remember your contribution keep this initiative going. Join our fb group, it is easier for me to communicate with you all at once "Brisbane Free Salsa Lesson"www.facebook.com/groups/bfsl3 I encourage you all to take photos or short videos (3 min max) during the event and send them to me via fb inbox, the best photos/videos will be posted on our fb group!
