• Storyline:

Pan's Labyrinth (2006), directed by Guillermo del Toro, is a dark fantasy set in post-Civil War Spain in 1944. The story follows Ofelia, a young girl who moves with her pregnant mother to live with her cruel stepfather, Captain Vidal, a fascist military officer hunting rebels.
Ofelia discovers a mysterious labyrinth and meets a faun who tells her she is the reincarnation of a lost princess from an underground realm. To return, she must complete three dangerous tasks. As Ofelia faces eerie, magical creatures, the real world around her grows darker with violence and oppression.
The film intertwines fantasy with the brutal reality of war, exploring themes of innocence, resistance, and the cost of disobedience. Its ending blurs the line between dream and reality, leaving viewers to decide whether Ofelia’s fantasy world was real or a means of escape.

Sinopsis:
El Laberinto del Fauno (2006), dirigida por Guillermo del Toro, es una fantasía oscura ambientada en la España de la posguerra civil, en 1944. La historia sigue a Ofelia, una niña que se muda con su madre embarazada a vivir con su cruel padrastro, el capitán Vidal, un oficial fascista que persigue a los rebeldes.
Ofelia descubre un misterioso laberinto y conoce a un fauno que le dice que es la reencarnación de una princesa perdida de un reino subterráneo. Para regresar, debe completar tres pruebas peligrosas. Mientras Ofelia se enfrenta a criaturas mágicas y aterradoras, el mundo real a su alrededor se vuelve cada vez más oscuro por la violencia y la opresión.
La película entrelaza la fantasía con la brutal realidad de la guerra, explorando temas como la inocencia, la resistencia y el precio de la desobediencia. Su final borra la línea entre sueño y realidad, dejando al espectador decidir si el mundo fantástico de Ofelia era real o una vía de escape.
