What is Daisy Connections?
Daisy Connections is a neuroinclusive speed friending event in London. Our last two events sold out completely, and we have a 60% return rate for attendees.
Neuroinclusive doesn't mean you have to be neurodivergent to attend. Everyone is welcome. We're sensory considerate throughout, with a quiet, chat-free decompression area, structured activities and personal hosts. Respect, kindness and inclusivity underpinning everything we do.
"It didn't feel performative, it felt genuinely kind and inclusive. The event was also really well run and organised, and none of my needs felt like they were too much or an inconvenience." - Attendee feedback
New for 3rd October: a separate quiet area
You asked, and we listened. Some of you told us you'd like the quiet area to be in its own separate section, for extra privacy and easier access, including during breaks. So from 3rd October, the quiet area will be in a separate section of the venue.
And something we really want you to know: the quiet area is available at any point, to anyone. During breaks, during the mixer, and even in the middle of a round. You do not have to ask permission, and you do not have to explain yourself. Just go, and stay for as long as you need.
*"The hosts did an amazing job and the quiet area worked a treat." -*Attendee feedback
Our 6th June and 25th July events were sold out, with an almost even spread of attendees across their 20s, 30s and 40s, and a balanced mix of genders. We received fantastic feedback, particularly about the app, the friendly hosts, the activities and the quiet area.
When is the next event?
📆 Our next and final event of the year will be Saturday 3rd October
⏰ 1:30pm to 5:30pm
📍The Station Master, Marylebone, one minute from the station
How does Daisy work?
Everyone gets a short profile on the app, so when you sit down with someone new and scan their QR code, you can already see a bit about them before you start talking. At the end of each chat you can discreetly indicate who you'd like to stay in touch with, with a separate option if you felt a little spark. Only mutual interest is ever revealed, so there's no awkwardness either way. For those who prefer old school, there's a paper format too.
*"The friend matching and contact info sharing system worked super well and massively reduced my social anxiety, as I didn't have to worry about misreading a social cue or potentially being rejected." -*Attendee feedback
Neuroinclusive
Conversation cards are at every table so nobody has to worry about their mind going blank. Most people use them as a backup, but they're there if you need them.
The separate quiet area has adult colouring in, bubbles, acupressure rings, plushies and ear defenders for anyone who needs a moment. There are no bright or flashing lights and no overall bell. The environment is volume controlled and sensory considerate.
"The conversation cards were fantastic and facilitated some really lovely and emotionally honest conversations. Without having them to fall back on I would have felt very anxious trying to think of what to say or ask." - Attendee feedback
Breaks & Mixer
One of the biggest worries people tell us about is not knowing what to do with yourself during unstructured time: where to stand, what to do with your hands, or how to naturally start a conversation with someone new.
So we've built activities into the break and mixer. Darts, pool, giant Jenga and adult colouring in are all available, giving you something to focus on and a natural reason to chat without any pressure.
Professional compère
The event is professionally hosted by compère Simone French, with individual hosts guiding and supporting guests throughout.
*"I felt really welcomed when I arrived. All the hosts were so lovely, and helped me feel relaxed straight away. As an autistic person I really appreciated being given direct instructions on where to sit and what to do." -*Attendee feedback
Professional Compère
The event is professionally hosted by compère Simone French, with individual hosts facilitating, guiding, and supporting throughout.
Extras
Every ticket includes a welcome drink token, and there's a raffle on the day where you can win a drink for you and someone else at the event.
What If…?
We've spoken with a lot of people about the worries they have around events like this, and we've matched every single one with a strategy.
We've addressed them in a series of short videos on Instagram called "What If". You can find us here:
