Spin Off Cyclists Bicycle Club Pages

In April 2010 we began our cycling adventures on trails around the Akron-Canton area. We welcome riders from the novice to the experienced. What brings us together is a desire to maintain a healthy lifestype by riding the Towpath Trail and other area bicycle trails. These trails are relatively flat, well maintained and travel across some of the most beautiful landscape in Ohio.

Do you want to be a fitter person? Have you failed in previous exercise attempts? Sign-up for this group today and RSVP to one of our upcoming rides. Before you know it, you will be hooked. A peaceful evening ride on the Towpath is addictive. Rides on Ohio’s rail trails take you through scenic back roads you never would have seen. It’s hard to believe you are getting a workout when surrounded by nature and friends on the trail.

The founding members of our group are all post-op weight loss surgery patients who have made cycling an integral part of their exercise routine. In the summer and fall of 2009 they rode the trails and developed a friendship and love for these adventures. As spring 2010 approached they wanted to share this love and enjoyment with others.

As well as being a cycling club, this club supports members who want to maintain an active healthy lifestyle. Support from a group who share common goals is key in achieving personal success. The hope is that our cyclists will develop that bond that encourages others to bike more often for their health.

Weight loss and maintenance is not easy for most Americans. Forming a regular exercise routine is just as difficult for those who have not exercised much in their past. The rides of this club are structured to give new riders some needed confidence and experience. At the same time, the rides have an option for the more experienced riders to continue on at their own pace. Finally, longer rides are offered for the more adventurous riders. The goal is to develop our members to the level of cycling experience that meets their goals.

There are no officers, dues or official membership roster. As they say, “We will play it by ear.” Ride schedules will change to meet riders’ wishes. The success of this group is defined by the success of the rides and participation of our riders.

We encourage you to visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. You will find answers to typical questions that members have about our group. If you can’t find the answer to your question in our FAQs, feel free to e-mail one of our Organizers.
