This chapter describes the contemplation or meditation which a person called by God does, in order to attain a union of love with God. This is very profound and should be approached with much humility and care. This is the work that monks do in a Christian monastery, but we non-monks can begin to appreciate the nature of the work from a philosophical point-of-view, via our discussion tonight. We will also scrutinize the text in screen share in order to isolate the very many rich kernels of wisdom in the chapter.
