In our series of retreats, for the second time in Croatia – a Theravada Buddhist monk (the oldest Buddhist tradition, considered closest to the original word of the Buddha) teaches meditation and talks about the training and the tradition that is 2600 years old. The programme takes place in Cava Brač and the two events will be held in English, as detailed below.

A chance to practice meditation, with guidance from a Buddhist monk, followed by a Dhamma talk: "Traditions and progress".

There will also be an opportunity for Questions and answers and dialogue, time permitting, on cultivating the practice in the lay life.
The event is open to general public and no prior experience or knowledge of meditation, Buddhism etc is needed. It will, however, be held in English. Entrance is free of charge. If accommodation is needed, it can be provided at a reasonable cost in Škrip. Parking is secured for all participants.

There is a possibility to return the following day, 02 June and have a personal conversation with the monk.

Ajahn Ñāṇadassano (Nyanadassano) (Ajahn means "teacher" in the Thai tradition) is of Czech origin, although he grew up with his Russian father in Latvia. He came to the Amaravati Monastery in the UK in the autumn of 1999, intending to become a Buddhist monk. Ajahn Nyanadassano received the Full Acceptance (Upasampada) as a monk (bhikkhu) on 21 July 2002. During the first 5 years he was also trained in Chithurst Buddhist Monastery in England and Wat Pah Nanachat in Thailand. After completing the initial training, he spent a year in Santacittarama monastery in Italy and two years in Bodhinyanarama in New Zealand, where he started sharing his knowledge of meditation and teachings of the Buddha. Early in 2011 Ajahn Nyanadassano returned to Thailand where he lived in various monasteries of Forest Tradition and spent some time in solitude. Since autumn 2015 he lives mostly in Amaravati, exercising his skills in building and maintenance and occasionally leading meditation retreats.
