2025 SBC Ride Leader Training Workshop

Details
Ride leaders are the heart of the Spokane Bicycle Club (SBC) Rides Program. Our Ride Leaders pick out routes—both the familiar and new adventures—and ensure club members experience a safe and enjoyable ride. The SBC offers training workshops to strengthen and sustain our club ride program:
- Training creates an opportunity for more members to participate as ride leaders.
- Engaging more members as ride leaders creates a critical resource necessary to expand into future new ride program opportunities for the club.
- Documentation of training is an additional layer of liability protection for the club.
On Tuesday evening June 10, 2025, SBC is offering an opportunity for all current and newly interested ride leaders to participate in a live ride leader training event. At the training, several of the clubs most experienced Ride Leaders will share their knowledge through interactive discussion and practical exercises on topics such as:
- SBC’s Ride Leader standards and guidelines.
- How to organize and run safe enjoyable rides including dealing with unexpected real-world situations.
- Online resources and mentoring to support new ride leaders.
All current SBC ride leaders are encouraged to attend, especially those who have not participated in a previous SBC Ride Leader training workshop. Even members who have led multiple rides will benefit as it is an opportunity to share and hear from others about what works well and what we can improve on to ensure every club ride experience is safe and enjoyable.
Never have led a club ride. Have ideas for new club rides and want to become more involved in the SBC rides program. This is your opportunity. Being a ride leader enables you to share your passion and joy of bicycling with others while contributing to the community of Spokane and the bicycling community.
We encourage all current Ride Leaders as well as other club members desiring to serve the community in leading rides to attend this educational event.
If questions or you want additional information, please contact the SBC Ride Program Director Bill Gillis at 509-432-4243.
