The Spokane Bicycle Club is celebrating spring bicycling in Spokane with a special Saturday event. No matter if you are wanting a fast pace longer distance ride, a shorter leisurely ride through a historic Spokane neighborhood or something in between, there will be a ride for you. Choose from three ride options leaving from Olmstead Park in Kendall Yards with the first ride leaving at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Note: Each of these rides are posted individually on meet up with additional details. Please find your chosen ride on this SBC meet up site and register to attend that specific ride on the morning or May 24 to facilitate our planning.
Option 1: Fast Pace Pleasant Prairie Town and County Loop Leaving Olmsted Park at 9:00 a.m.
Terry Harwood will lead riders on a faster pace 39-mile loop through the beautiful Orchard Prairie region returning through the Whitworth district on quiet city streets. The route includes a 0.9 mile, Lehman Road 9% grade hill climb. Riders choosing this option should be comfortable maintaining a 15 to 17 mph pace on flat terrain. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47806937
Option 2: Moderate Pace Ride- Olmsted Park to 7-Mile Road. Circle route leaving at 9:30 a.m.
Bob Buck will guide riders on a moderately paced ride along pave trails and quieter roads through Riverside State Park to 7-Mile Road returning via Aubrey White/Downriver roads climbing Doomsday Hill before returning to the park. The circle route is approximately 20 miles and includes some longer and steeper hills. Riders choosing this option should be comfortable maintaining a steady pace of 12 to 14 mph on flat terrain. Option 3: Leisurely Pace Ride through Vinegar Flats Leaving Olmsted Park at 10:00 a.m.
Dave Sorg will lead a leisurely 9.3 or 13.6 mile ride from Kendall Yards over the Sandifer Bridge via Redband Park to and through the historic Vinegar Flats neighborhood. Will return through Riverfront Park. While the route does include one steeper hill leading down to the Sandifer bridge, the terrain for this ride is mostly flat with an average pace of 10 to 12 mph. All riders are invited to gather at the nearby Fresh Market Patio following your ride for food and conversation. The Fresh Market offers multiple beverage and food options for purchase.
