Finch Arboretum - Medical Lake - Cheney Loop

Start Time: Meet 8:45 for 9:00 AM rollout

Distance: 51 miles

Pace: 12 – 15 mph cruising speed on flats

Terrain: One sustained climb, otherwise typical ups and downs found in these parts ; one mile of gravel road; total elevation gain +/- 2000 ft.

Route Description: From the arboretum we will take the Rosamond Ave bridge into the Sunset Hills, making our way through housing, trees and fields to Flint. A short ride on W Trails, which we'll exit at Deno (unless people want to play the slots at Northern Quest).

There’s a one-mile gravel stretch of Deno, so if you can run 28 mm or wider tires you’ll be more comfortable (although regular skinny tires have managed). We’ll make a few rights and lefts to explore a pleasant area of Airway Heights away from the main drag.

We cross Hwy 2 and continue on scenic Brooks Road into Medical Lake, where there are facilities. We'll continue along Silver Lake and in between Granite and Willow lakes, then into Cheney via the rolling farmland hills of Betz Rd. Then the traditional stop at the Mason Jar. We'll finish up with a mostly car-free soft pedal along the Fish Lake Trail back to the start unless the group chooses a different route.
