About us

Join us to watch foreign films, independent films, shorts, documentaries, and classic films, and discuss them over dinner and drinks. Support The Magic Lantern Theatre, AMC Independent, The Bing Crosby Theater, Spokane film festivals, and other arthouse cinema in Spokane.

We charge membership dues of $15 per year to cover the costs charged by Meetup and to allow us to rent a theater once each year for a free film screening. There is a 90-day free trial period so you can come to some of our meetups before committing to pay dues.

Additional donations are welcome and can be given securely online on our home page. 100% of all donations go toward funding future events.

Halloween Eve Potluck at Kenn's House
Fri, Oct 30 · 5:30 PM PDT
Location not specified yet
Hi everyone! As some of you know, my wife and I are moving into our new place and will finally have room to host small gatherings at our house. And many of you will remember the potluck meetups we used to have at Vaughn's house. I miss those meetups and would like to try bringing them back at our new home.

This meetup will be a potluck event on Friday, October 30 at 5:30pm. I will be showing the super-fun Japanese zombie comedy "One Cut of the Dead." If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend you don't research it. It will be a better experience without spoilers.

Because this is a potluck, please bring a dish or beverage to share.

Please note: Because this event will be held in my home, attendance is limited to members who have attended at least one previous Spokane Art Cinema event. For privacy, the address will not be posted publicly but will be emailed to confirmed attendees before the event. Space is limited, so if you RSVP but later find you can't attend, please update your RSVP as soon as possible to make room for someone else. Thank you for understanding!

I hope to see you here!

"Fjord" at the Magic Lantern
Fri, Nov 6 · 4:45 PM PST
Magic Lantern Theatre, 25 W Main Ave #125, Spokane, WA 99201, USA, Spokane, WA, US
DATE CHANGE UPDATE: I've moved this meetup from Saturday, November 7 to Friday, November 6 because of the Magic Lantern's schedule. The movie starts at 5:00pm, so I've schedule the meetup for 4:45pm. The start time is a little earlier than usual because of the film's 2h26m runtime. If this changes your plans, please take a moment to update your RSVP. I hope to see you Friday!

==========

Our next meetup will be on Saturday, November 7 at the Magic Lantern Theater at approximately 5:30pm, depending on show times. I believe we will be seeing Fjord, starring Sebastian Stan, about an immigrant Romanian family living in Norway that is subject to an investigation and faces the scrutiny of the local judicial system.

When the Lantern publishes their schedule (on November 3), I will update the meetup. Please be aware that the meetup time may change a bit.

After the movie, we will head to Mango Tree Indian restaurant for dinner, drinks, and conversation. As per usual, if you will be coming to the movie but don't plan to join us afterward, please RSVP "No" to help us have an accurate head count for the restaurant reservation.

I hope to see you there!
