UPDATE 1/21--Thank you for your patience while I waited for the Magic Lantern to release its weekend schedule. I have confirmed that we'll be seeing THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE on Friday night (1/23). The film begins at 5:30pm, so we should arrive at the Saranac Public House for dinner and drinks around 8pm.
Please update your RSVP accordingly if you're still able to attend, and for those currently on the waitlist you are more than welcome to join us for the movie. The attendance limit is only for the restaurant, and if we have more people than planned we'll make room. Let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to seeing what looks like a large group of film lovers on Friday evening.

Hello, fellow film lovers! I hope the new year is treating everyone well so far. Our first Meetup event of 2026 will be on Friday, January 23rd at the Magic Lantern Theatre. Details are yet to be finalized, but for now I'm planning on us watching a film just arriving in Spokane that night--THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE. Starring Amanda Seyfried (THE HOUSEMAID, MEAN GIRLS), it's a critically praised drama about the formation of the Shakers Movement, an offshoot of the Quakers. Here is a brief synopsis and trailer link:

Ann Lee, the founding leader of the Shaker Movement, proclaimed as the female Christ by her followers. Depicts her establishment of a utopian society and the Shakers' worship through song and dance, based on real events.

The film should start between 5:30 and 6pm, ending no later than 8:30pm. I plan for us to have dinner at the Saranac Public House, just steps from the theater, but that may change. I'll update this announcement once details are more finalized. Please remember to RSVP "No" if you intend to watch the movie but not attend dinner. That way the restaurant will have an accurate head count. I look forward to seeing you all on the 23rd.
